Day 5: Dark Lip

Hello Lovelies! I hope you are having a wonderful day! Today is day 5, starting the first day of the lips, dark lips. I love dark lips I think that they look dramatic and sophisticated if done right. There is a lot to play around with dark lips you can go super dramatic with a deep purple or even black if you are that brave or choose a more wearable color and do a deep marron-red.
I decided to go with a more wearable option and do a deep red.
The key to wearing a dark lip is to define the points of your lips and to find the right shade for your skin tone.

If you have a cool complexion (blueish undertone) you should pick a color with notes of blue underneath. If you have a warm completion (Yellowish undertone) then pick a color with yellow undertones.
Now I'm about to say something that will blow your mind...
In Grade school you are taught that there is three primary colors red, yellow, and blue, however there is in fact not three but six! Thats right six! There is a warm and cool red, warm and cool yellow, warm and cool blue.  So yes they were right in a sense but only half right. But now that you now there is a warm and a cool option to every color you now can wear any color you'd wish to as long as it has the same under notes as your completion or if you are one of the lucky ones who have a neutral complexion they can wear what ever they wish.
So now that you know how to find they right shade for your skin now to define the points on your lips. Definition of the cupids bow (the arch directly below the nose bridge) is key to a good dark lip. Do not over extend the lips. The key to good makeup is not to coverup it is to accentuate what you already have.

Now that the lips are done onto the eyes. Since the lips are audacious I decided to downplay the eyes.

  • I smudged some black pencil on my lash line
  • curled the lashes
  • Then applied 2-3 coats of mascara.
So Lovelies what do y'all think of the dark lips? Are the too daring for you or are you gonna rock this look? Please comment below and let me know! Have a lovely day!
